We are a
large and active parish with an average Sunday Mass attendance of more
than a thousand people. There are a number of groups and organisations
that contribute to the life of the Catholic Church in Fareham and Portchester,
some in conjunction with the other Churches of the town.
Churches
Together in Fareham and Churches Together in Portchester
are two groups of lay people and ordained ministers from the different
denominations of the towns who meet about five times a year to promote
a better understanding and share in ecumenical initiatives.
Many of the singers and musicians in our choir are active members of Christians
Together in Music - a combined choir which performs at important ecumenical
events and on occasions such as singing Christmas Carols in the main shopping
centre.

A
programme of enquiry, exploration and conversion in faith takes place
each year. This programme, called the Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults, begins each September and continues with weekly meetings
until Pentecost. It is at the Easter Vigil Mass (the central celebration
of the Church) that candidates are received into full communion with the
Catholic Church.
What
else?
Many
other small groups exist - one to offer support for the bereaved, another
for those touched by mental handicap, a Bible Study group, the lunch club,
Friends in Retirement, a very active and successful sports club, a self-help
group for people with the experience of marriage break down and many more.
