A New

Octagon Room, Ferneham Hall. It aims to discover the main health concerns
of local people, and consider how best to promote them. Come along and
have your say, and find out more about this exciting new community project.
A similar meeting will be held in April in the Gosport area – details
to follow.

THE UNION
Thought for the Week
Promise and change are the themes of our readings this week. God’s
promise to Abraham to grant him descendants such as the stars of heaven,
moving Abraham from being a nomad to a man who would settle the land assigned
for his heritage, and for Peter, John and James journeying up the mountain
with Jesus, they would see a glimpse of the promise offered to them in
following Jesus, a glimpse of the glorified Lord, ‘the Son of God,
the Chosen One.’ The promise Jesus offers us today is spelt out
in the Second Reading where St Paul urges the Philippians to follow Christ,
live by him, so that they may come to share in the fullness of life in
Christ in heaven, where our bodies will be transfigured into copies of
His own glorified body.
As we continue
our Lenten journey let us pray that through faithfulness to Christ we
may be ever changed into His image and so move forward in faith towards
the kingdom promised us.

Andrew Chandler
Mass

Masses which will now be celebrated on:

Liturgy
of the Word and Holy Communion Services will be celebrated in
the Sacred Heart Church at 9.30am each day when there is no

‘Fareham & Gosport Active Groups for the Blind’
are recently formed local groups helping to give confidence and independence
to blind and partially sighted people. They provide necessary and special
equipment plus a range of social activities, home visiting, advice and
financial support.
‘Eye Contact’ is a special project for Central Asia,
serving firstly the blind children of Uzbekistan. A Fareham couple, Mr
& Mrs Stannard, organise ‘Eye Contact’ and their
aim is to provide every blind child in Uzbekistan with a Brailler and
to equip the children with ‘feely’ watches, simple jigsaws
and adapted tools. A bucket collection will be taken at the end of Sunday
Masses during Lent for this appeal.
