THE UNION
Thought for the Week
‘The very limit of human blindness is to glory in being blind’
Augustine of Hippo.
Statistics
tells us that the number of people going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation
has fallen drastically over the past decades. Is it possible that we may
have developed a blind spot regarding this Sacrament or are we blind to
our sinfulness and our need of God’s mercy? Jesus heals not only
our physical blindness (man at the pool of Siloam) but also our spiritual
blindness if only we turn to him.
Can we ignore
his call to forgiveness as well as the opportunity to draw strength to
live the Christian life? He calls us; he invites us to the Lenten Penitential
Service (see details below). Do come along.
