Listenings
2004
Your personal experience of family life is important. Bishop Crispian
and the other Bishops have committed themselves to finding ways to support
Family Life in the Church. First they need to know the reality of people’s
lives. Now parishes in the Diocese are organising various ways of seeking
your personal input. Leaflets have been printed with 12 starter questions.
Responses can be short to fit on the sheet or longer on extra sheets and
can be from an individual, a family, a parish group or a specially formed
group. Leaflets and fliers are at the back of the churches and on the
web site here (pdf
file).

THE UNION
Thought for the Week
The work of God cannot be done through us if we do not give time each
day to pray.
To pray is to find ourselves in relationship with God;
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Featuring: all Churches pulling together, pooling talents and
effort to bring the Love of Christ face-to-face with Fareham’s
folk.
We have 1 year to prepare this mammoth event.
What
is going to happen?
Beginning
with the London Gospel Choir to open in style, then Picnics,
Jazz evening, Competitions, Sing-alongs, Flower Workshops, Youth
Camp, Banquet, Rock Concert, Dramatic Presentations, with musical
events in the Precinct and all over. Churches will be open for

be needed to help this unique joint-effort. The prayer leaflet
handed-out today will also tell you more about our aims.

is well in hand but there is a lot to do – many hands
make light work – how about volunteering your help? If

Co-Workers
of Mother Teresa – Missionary Sisters of Charity
The Sisters in India are in great need of cotton clothing and light weight
woollens for the ‘poorest of the poor’. If you are sorting
out your summer clothes and find you have a surplus of these items, still
in good condition, would you consider, please, bringing them to the Sacred
Heart Church and placing them in the white box in the porch? Thank you
to all who have already made contributions, in this respect, and also
for the items received for St Dismas.
A message
from Terry and Theresa Phillips
“If anybody is interested in joining the group of Ushers
and Greeters who assist at the 9.00am Mass on Sundays would they please
contact Terry or Theresa Phillips, either at the 9.00am Mass or by telephoning
01489 880619. With the larger numbers now attending this Mass, additional
volunteers would be very welcome especially as we are a little short,
in particular, of Greeters. Making people feel welcome at Mass, distributing
hymn books and finding seats for them, all help in preparation for the
celebration of the Eucharist. We would be very pleased to hear from people
who now attend 9.00am Mass as a result of the recent changes in Mass times.”
Fareham
Sacred Heart Football Club
The football club has sadly closed with the conclusion of the
2003-4 season. Paul Cubitt will write a tribute to the club in the forthcoming
Parish Magazine. It is pleasing to know that the majority of the team
football strips are now in Uganda. The Rev. Jeanette Power, a hospital
chaplain in Portsmouth, very kindly agreed to take the heavy kit bags
with her on a recent trip to Uganda. She presented the football strips
to a delighted primary school and hospice in Uganda’s capital, Kampala.
Loud thanks and applause is sent from these children, with their glowing
appreciation. With thanks especially to Wally Arnold and Paul Cubitt for
their many years of dedication and commitment to the club.
Date
for your Diary
Family/Scout/Parish Barbecue – Saturday 3rd July. More
details will be given shortly.
Greetings

Lady of Walsingham Church. I remember you all with gratitude for accepting
me, being kind to me, during my stay in England. It’s still cold
here, I guess the summer is lost somewhere on the way to Moscow. I hope
in England it is much better. All the best in everything. Lots of love,
from Vera Petrova.”
