News
from the Vatican
Recently Pope John Paul II received a group of young people from the diocese
of Rome who are taking part in a mission, aimed at their peers, in preparation
for the Year of the Eucharist, entitled "Jesus Downtown". The
Pope gave the young people two instructions: "In the first place,"
he said, "love the Eucharist. Never get tired of celebrating and
adoring the Eucharist, together with the entire Christian community, especially
on Sunday. Know how to put it at the centre of your personal and community
life……. In the second place, have missionary passion. Do not
be afraid to bear witness to hope, which has a specific name: Jesus Christ!"
The Sacrament of Baptism
Those who ask for the Sacrament of Baptism for their child are invited
to take part in a short course of preparation. These courses take place
on a regular basis and Godparents are also very welcome to attend. To
book a place for the next available meeting, please contact either Jayne
and Philip O’Riordan on 01329 515991 or Anne and Kevin Tarling on
01329 829549. Please arrange the date of the baptism of your child with

THE UNION
Thought for the Week
The majority of us are so busy that we can only give God a small portion
of our time. We try to fit God into our lives by coming to Mass on Sundays.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea if we try to make our lives revolve around
God? A good start would be to begin each day with prayer – starting
first for a few minutes and then extending it to longer periods over time.
Time spent in prayer is not wasted. It is the most fruitful time of all.
No one said it is going to be easy but it is very rewarding. The quiet
time spent in prayer will also help us to be aware of what is really going
on within us – our worries, our concerns, our fears. Christ asks
us to join him in continual prayer and never to lose heart. Why don’t
we make a start right away?

The
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

with Him, drawn into the intimacy of Communion with Him – that is
the Christian feast” (Mgr. Romano Guardini).
