THE UNION
Thought for the Week
Three Quotes
which reflect something of our readings today (from Quotes and Anecdotes,
Anthony P. Castle, 1994):
The
spirit of poverty is to live in the gladness of today.
(Rule of Taize)
He is rich enough who is poor with Christ.
(St Jerome)
‘Poor in spirit’ refers, not precisely to humility, but to
an attitude of dependence on God and detachment from earthly supports.
(Ronald Knox)
