Wake up to Trade Justice
There will be an all-night Vigil at St John’s Cathedral and Cathedral Centre on Friday 15th April starting with Mass at 7.00pm and finishing after breakfast at 7.00am. Unaccompanied young people (14-18 years) are welcome to join until 11.00pm at which time they must be collected. If they come with their parents they are welcome to remain with them. Please see the poster in the porch for further details.

The Easter Vigil
The Easter Vigil will take place at St Philip Howard Church on Saturday 26th March at 8.30pm.

It is the high point of the Church’s Year because it is the central proclamation and celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, with baptism at its heart.

Please come along and support Zina Hanajikova, who is to be Baptised and John Waldron, Brian Smith and Paul Hayward who are to be received into the full communion of the Catholic Church.

Part of the celebration of Baptism is the renewal of our own Baptism commitment.

Stations of the Cross
There will be Stations of the Cross at 5.00pm at Our Lady of Walsingham Church this Sunday.

Lent Lunches
The last of the Lent Lunches takes place this Wednesday, 23rd March. The Service begins at 12.00 noon and takes place at Portchester Methodist Church in Castle Street. Do support this Lunch as all proceeds will be shared between CAFOD and Christian Aid. Catholics will be responsible for this lunch and Father Chris will lead the Service.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes
This year, the Portsmouth Diocese Pilgrimage to Lourdes is being led by Bishop Crispian Hollis from 26th August to 2nd September. Portsmouth Diocese has a strong Youth Group who selflessly give their time pushing wheelchairs, pulling voitures or assisting at the Accueil Notre Dame. Any young people aged 17 – 25 years interested in going to Lourdes as a helper are asked to speak to Father Chris or Jane Cadogan.

THE UNION
Thought for the Week

To love is to give yourself away. You can dare throw yourself into the Pilgrimage, because God has fallen in love with you so much that He has sent His Son into the world to bring you home.

Passion for Pilgrimage leads us into the mystery of lostness from which we learn a new way of loving. This is what the Season of Lent is all about. Its climax is Holy Week. These days treasure the most solemn and momentous time in the Church’s Year, when the love affair is revealed in all its wonder and glory. Its message is clear and simple: God has fallen in love with you and wants you to come home. We find ourselves in the middle of a love affair that is leading to a strange and terrible climax called the Crucifixion…..The kind of loving that leads to Good Friday seems crazy, foolish and even irresponsible. Jesus turns our ideas of loving upside down. (Alan Jones in his ‘Passion for Pilgrimage’.) Extract from The Tablet.
