Blessed
Margaret Pole, 1473-1541
There will be a concert in celebration of the life of Bl. Margaret Pole
on her feast day, 28th May, at St Thomas a Becket Church, Warblington
at 7.30pm. Margaret was daughter of the Duke of Clarence, niece of King
Edward IV and King Richard III. She married Sir Reginald Pole in 1491
and had five children, one of whom became a Cardinal. He wrote against
Henry VIII’s presumptions to spiritual supremacy and the King decided
to crush the family. Two of Margaret’s sons were executed in 1538
for the crime of being the brothers of the Cardinal. In her later years
Margaret lived at Warblington Castle. She was falsely charged with plotting
revolution and was beheaded in 1541. Music of that period will be played
at the concert with the Wyndcliffe Voices and the Lazy Lane Mynstrels
who will be directed by Philip Drew. The delightful church on the harbour’s
edge between Havant and Emsworth, was where Margaret was arrested and
taken to the Tower via Midhurst. Tickets for the concert cost £5.00
and all proceeds will go towards the church restoration fund. Reservation
is advisable by telephoning 023 9248 4000 or 023 9245 3357.

the relationship he has with us. Dreamwork is the process by which we
open the letter, read it and find ways to respond to it. This day weeks
to apply the insights of modern psychology to this ancient tradition.

THE UNION
Thought for the Week
The Holy Trinity is an impossible catechetical concept to understand;
it is a mystery. Humanity has pondered about the Trinity for the last
2000 years and has come no closer to an understanding of this concept.
But in celebrating the feast of the Holy Trinity we can celebrate a living
reality of a God who is actually part of our lives. The one God of scriptures
is revealed in the various different ways that He acts towards us. He
acts as a loving parent, as a saving Son and as a unifying, enlightening,
strengthening Holy Spirit.
The unifying
act between Father and Son is love. Everything that belongs to the Father
he entrusts to the Son, and everything the Son has received, he returns
to the Father. This all embracing love, which personalises the relationship
between the Father and Son, is a divine Person, the Holy Spirit, who is
coequal with the Father and Son.
As a community
we need to foster and build up a similar trinity of communion and love
that encircles all that we do and all that we are. We are truly ourselves
only when we are truly joined with one another by this circle of love,
grace and fellowship. This is what makes us ‘Church’.
