If you know you are away that weekend or miss us, money can be left in an envelope addressed to Ruth Moorhen and left at the Parish Office. Alternatively, contact me on 01329 318451. Best wishes and thanks again, Ruth and Franki Moorhen.”

THE UNION

Thought for the Month

For the next few Sundays, the Gospel of Mark is interrupted and we listen to the Gospel of John. We hear about Jesus as the one who feeds us on the journey – feeds us himself in word (teaching) and deed (sacramental self). Jesus always nourishes us and sustains us if we have eyes to see and believe in the sign he gives. We are told of Jesus’ transfiguration which foreshadows his glorious resurrection, a new life that was his because he faithfully did the will of his Father, even to the point of suffering and dying. The transfiguration of Jesus tells us that the kingdom of God is already here.

Hospital Stay
Should you or a member of your family be taken into hospital for a routine operation or rest care, please let us know at the Parish Office. Although you may register your details at the hospital and include your religion as Catholic, this information is not automatically relayed to the Parish. The same applies if you are taken into hospital as an emergency. A relative or friend needs to let us know. If you are moved to another ward, this is not automatically conveyed to us, and even upon inquiry at your original ward, they will not necessarily tell us to where you have been moved. If the hospital authorities fail to offer you the opportunity of spiritual support, they are contravening the NHS guidelines for the spiritual needs of patients and staff. Please also let us know when you have returned home. Visits can be arranged and Holy Communion brought to you at home, but only if we know you have been released from hospital.

Sacred Heart Catholic ChurchSummer Holiday Arrangements
Our choir in Fareham will have a well-earned break during the summer. Readers are asked to note that the Psalm will not be sung during the coming weeks. During the month of August the Sacred Heart Church will be closed during the day except for those times when Mass is being celebrated. Please remember that Children's Liturgy of the Word is taking a break and will resume on the 2nd/3rd September. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has now ceased and will resume in the Sacred Heart Church and in Our Lady of Walsingham Church on Monday 4th September 2006. I would like to wish everyone, who is taking a holiday, a relaxing and refreshing time with safe and comfortable travel. For those unable to take holidays, I hope this time of year brings an opportunity for some rest and recreation.
