GIFT
Notice for all who have planned to attend the Course for 2006-7. This has been postponed for a year to 2007-8. This is partly for the formation of the new Pastoral Area and due to lack of manpower on the committee.
Parish Mission
An important Parish Event to be logged in your diary!
There will be a Parish Mission given by Fr John Edwards SJ (from Farm Street) lasting from 18th November to 26th November 2006. Fr John is an excellent speaker and many have heard him speak at our Masses during a weekend some time ago. Watch this space for more details in the ensuing weeks but make sure you keep these dates free to attend. Endeavour to make this Mission a very high priority in your calendar. |
Thanks
“Our thanks to everyone for your prayers, cards and good wishes on our Golden Wedding Anniversary. It is a wonderful blessing to live in such a loving and caring community. Joy and Ossie Ellis”
Shoebox Appeal
“Hello Everyone!
Now that the children are about to go back to school, it is also time for me to remind you all about the shoeboxes for Romania appeal. We will need small gifts, pens and pencils for the schoolchildren, toiletries and socks, scarves, razors, toys, toothbrushes, etc. Please start collecting them NOW so that we will all be prepared by October, when we will begin to bring them in to church. I know I can rely on you all as usual.
Many thanks, Marian”
APF
Promoters will be coming to empty APF boxes over the next few weeks. (It would be a help, in some cases, if the Fareham Promoters can take the box and bring it back at a later date. This does not apply to Portchester APF. ) Thank you for your co-operation.

THE UNION
Thought
for the Week
It is interesting to note in the gospels how often the sick are brought by others to Jesus for healing. This is an embodiment of God’s saving power. When we reach out to others to help them in any way we ourselves are acting like Jesus to heal and save. In living the gospel, then, rather than simply bringing others to Jesus we ourselves are the presence of the risen Christ who bring healing and salvation.
If we ourselves, then, are to be the embodiment of God’s saving power then we must open our ears to hear and recognise all the everyday opportunities for making God’s presence and reign known. This might be something so simple as turning off the TV and spending some time in the family listening to each other. Or it might be something so demanding as choosing to work fewer hours and have less money available in order to be more present to others. However we respond to others’ needs, it is helpful to remember that we do embody God’s offer of salvation through the good we do.
