I know Peter Horne, the Manager of the Centre, would like to send his appreciation to you all too. There are a few people I missed collecting money from, so if they feel they still would like to, they could contact me on 01329 318451, catch me at Mass or leave it at the Parish Office.

On another note, the milk bottle top collection that has been organised by the Parish Ecology Group is now raising money for the Solent Therapy Centre and Esme has asked me to mention that it is only plastic milk bottle tops that can be taken, ones with a number 2 or 4 on them and clean, of course. Many thanks again, Ruth and Franki.”

Shoeboxes
Now is the time to start putting together your shoeboxes for Romania. The last day for bringing them to church will be Sunday 29th October. We will collect boxes at Sacred Heart porch, St Philip Howard porch and the Richeldis Room at Our Lady of Walsingham.

Because of difficulties with Romanian customs, it is essential that you read and follow the instructions on the leaflet, and especially the Gift Aid section if you pay income tax. Also read the list of forbidden items. Customs open boxes at random, and condemn a whole consignment if they find forbidden items. Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness to others so much less fortunate than ourselves. God bless. Marian.

THE UNION

Thought for the Week
The paschal mystery tension of dying and rising is played out many ways. This Sunday’s gospel suggests a number of them: God’s ways versus human ways; peace versus testing etc. Which do we choose? Our choices depend upon the quality of our relationships with God and others…..In a society where most of us are too busy and too tired, it is difficult to keep things in perspective. We tend to be short with each other and the children. Perhaps we need to follow Jesus’ example and take time to embrace and bless each other. We often think of blessing in terms of the formal blessing the priest gives us at the end of Mass… However, there is a long tradition of people blessing each other, especially parents blessing children. One way to live the dying and rising mystery of Christ is to take the time to bless those we love.
