THE UNION

Thought for the Week
Living the paschal mystery means that we take a critical look at ourselves and root out whatever it is that keeps us from seeing who Jesus is, whether that is self-centredness, preoccupation with getting ahead, amassing more money and material goods, seeking comfort above all else. All this demands dying to self, and only by dying can we rise to “see” the glory of new life.

Living the paschal mystery also means that, as we encounter Jesus, we recognise that Jesus give us more than we ask. In turn, since we ourselves are to be the presence of the risen Christ for others, we also give more than is asked of us. Discipleship means more than following; it means that we spring up and give ourselves over the for the sake of others.
