Apostleship of the Sea – Christmas Appeal
“On behalf of the Apostleship of the Sea, I wish to ask for a donation of gifts to go into Christmas parcels for the seafarers. A group of us visit the seafarers in the Portsmouth civilian docks throughout the year. The kind of gifts that are appreciated are toiletries, including toothbrushes/toothpaste, soap, socks, jumpers, books etc. I will arrange to have them collected from Our Lady of Walsingham Church, St Philip Howard Church and the Parish Office. Thank you in advance. God bless. Cariton Pinto”

Thanks
Joan Bell would like to thank Jim Callaghan for all the help given to her when she fell in the car park last weekend. She is extremely grateful.

THE UNION

Thought for the Week
Despite what much of the entertainment industry projects, love is not self-absorbed but other-centred, not transient but the enduring hallmark of all Christian faith and living. The paschal mystery’s dying that leads to rising does not refer to physical death, but to the whole-hearted giving of self in unselfish love. Loving is a dying to selfishness and rising to life in profound communion. The link between keeping the commandments and the nearness of God’s kingdom is love of God, neighbour, self. Only then can we offer fitting sacrifice to God.
