Angels – Glorious Voices of African Children

They will be giving a concert at The Ashcroft Arts Centre, Osborn Road, Fareham on Wednesday 10th October at 7.30pm – tickets £8.00, £7.00 concessions. Angels is a non-profit organisation run by a group of people who give their time freely, dedicated to helping vulnerable children from the poorest parts of the world. THE UNION

Thought for the Week
Just as the steward was decisive in how he used his master’s possessions to gain his favourable end, so are we to be decisive in our use of possessions and which God we serve in order to gain our eternal end. Eternal life, then, is dependent upon two things: we are to be prudent and decisive in this life, and do all we can to gain eternal life; we are to constantly monitor which God it is we serve.

We invest a great deal of time, money and energy in acquiring skills, guidance, therapy and education in order to live better lives. Disciples are called to invest the same time and energy gaining prudence and spiritual insight so to be “welcomed into eternal dwellings.”

Words of Wisdom
If you say “That’s enough. I have reached perfection”, then all is lost, because the function of perfection is to make you know your imperfections.

The Year of St Luke

St Luke

Sacred Heart Catholic ChurchStewardship
Stewardship is essentially the way of discipleship and the engagement of the whole person and the whole community in the faithful following of Christ as disciples. It is a way of life and as such, finds its beginnings and all its growth in the Scriptures, in the call of the Lord and in our prayerful response to that call. This is the spirituality of Stewardship. With this in mind, Bishop Crispian invites us to join him in a “Stewardship Recollection Day” which is taking place at St Swithun Wells School in Chandlers Ford on Saturday 13th October. The day begins at 11.00am (tea/coffee from 10.30am) and is really a day of prayer to encourage all of us to put our trust and our time, our talents and our treasure into the hands of the Lord as we either set out or consolidate our discipleship of the Christian steward. A light sandwich lunch will be provided and the day will finish at 3.30pm. If you plan to attend, please ring or email Joan in the Parish Office as soon as possible, to enable catering arrangements to be made.

Parish Diary 2007-2008 on the Web

In order for this arrangement to work to its best advantage and the information to be kept up-to-date we are very much reliant on your support. Please let us know of any new dates your group may have reserved and, in particular, any changes made to arrangements already scheduled in the diary. (NB: room bookings for school and parish hall venues remain the responsibility of the Parish Group/Programme Co-ordinators.) If you have any inquiries with regard to the project, please contact Michele Edwards, Office Co-ordinator, at the Parish Office on 01329 318869.
