Messages from Adopt Sri Lanka
1.

“Father Joe, your Parish has done it again! I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your tireless work on Adopt Sri Lanka’s behalf, such a driving force that motivates your Parish.

The amount raised for Nidangala School is incredible, please pass on our gratitude to all. Over the past three years your donations have made a huge difference to the lives of the children on the south coast of Sri Lanka in a way that we could never have expected. The work we do is only possible because of such generosity that is demonstrated by the kind and selfless spirit the Parish of Fareham and Portchester have shown in abundance. Thank you to everyone and God bless you all.”
Sharron Ward – Adopt Sri Lanka.

2.
“What a fabulous effort! A huge thank you from everyone at Nidangala School. It looks like a lot of hard work and energy was put into the fundraising activities. Once the contractor has completed the plans for the new structure, I shall forward a copy of these plans. Once work commences I will send regular update reports, highlighting events such as the foundation laying ceremony and the different stages as the classroom grows. I am sure these updates will be of great interest to the students of St Jude’s School.
Please accept our sincere and most grateful thanks to everyone involved.”
Bec Lyons – General Manager, Adopt Sri Lanka.

THE UNION

Thought for the Week
Jesus speaks of his “Father’s House”, “dwelling places,” and “preparing a place.” At first we, like the disciples, might think of this as a physical location, a destination we could find if we knew “the way.” Jesus, however, leads us to a deeper understanding when he reveals where he and the Father dwell: within one another. The way to this dwelling place is Jesus who leads us into the heart of God.

Enrich your Marriage

When someone buys a new car they usually want to look after it. The manufacturer recommends that they check the battery, tyres and oil and get it serviced on a regular basis. Relationships also need to have a check-up from time to time. A Marriage Encounter Weekend gives married couples time to look at their relationship. It is not for couples with serious problems. It is an enrichment experience. The weekend is spent listening to a series of presentations on various aspects of relationship, including the Catholic Church’s vision for Marriage. After each presentation some time is spent as a couple, reflecting on what has been heard. Apart from mealtimes and the concluding Mass, the weekend is spent together as a couple. It is a private weekend with no group discussions. The next weekend which is convenient for travel is at West Wickham, Kent on 20th to 22nd June.

Engaged Couples

An Engaged Encounter Weekend is similar to a Marriage Encounter Weekend, with the emphasis on communication and relationship building. It is recommended that couples attend a weekend well in advance, ideally at least six months before their wedding day, to allow any uncertainties to be explored properly. A non-residential weekend is to be held near Chichester from 31st May to 1st June. Accommodation can be arranged if required. For further details please contact Chris and Mary Farrall on 01962 620289 or visit the website www.wwme.org.uk through which you can also arrange a booking.

No charge is made for the Weekends, but married couples are asked to make a donation of £10.00 for a Marriage Encounter Weekend and engaged couples pay a booking deposit of £25.00. Later, on both weekends, couples are asked to make a donation towards the Movement’s costs.
