Thanks from Terry Phillips……
“May I please thank Father Joe, Kevin Field and all who organised and shared my 60th birthday celebration after Mass on the 8th June. It was a great occasion and I really enjoyed it – once I had got over the shock! Thanks, in particular, go to Theresa for initiating and brilliantly executing (with able assistance from many others) such an act of subterfuge. I really appreciate the cards and good wishes. I shall always remember when the choir and congregation, with organ accompaniment, sang ‘Happy Birthday to You’. Many thanks again.” Terry Phillips

Glory be … (Repeat Antiphon)

Wednesday - The saints are happy in heaven because they followed Christ. They rejoice with him forever because they shed their blood for love of him. Glory be… (Repeat Antiphon)

THE UNION

Thought for the Week
In this gospel, Jesus pours out his “meek and humble” heart in love both for the Father and for his disciples. He praises God for graciously willing ‘little ones’ to be the recipients of revelation. He calls disciples to himself that he might offer them deserved rest from their burdens. When we experience discipleship as hard, difficult and challenging – as it is – we can find comfort and solace in the tender Christ who lightens our burdens.

Harbour Cancer Support Centre
Some of you will have seen the leaflets, cardboard collection boxes and desk calendars in each of our churches about the Harbour Cancer Support Centre. It aims to provide cancer patients, their families, carers and friends with both emotional and practical support. This means helping people with cancer to live their lives as normally as possible, promoting independence and quality of life, whilst also providing the required support to anyone whose life has been affected by cancer. Since being diagnosed with cancer, Fr Peter Sprague has been going to the Centre and has found the support and counselling offered very beneficial. Working across South East Hampshire, the Centre, which is located above the bus station in Gosport, offers a warm, relaxing environment.

The Harbour Cancer Support Centre is a registered charity, number 1102055, so relies on the support of businesses and individuals in order to continue offering such a comprehensive range of services. Donations of time or money are always welcome, and the team are happy to offer help and support to anyone considering organising an event on their behalf. For more information, visit www.harbourcancer.org.uk.
