THE UNION
Thought
for the Week
If ever there was a parable that demonstrates the truth of the first reading, this is one – for God’s ways are surely above our ways!
Most of us have a strong sense of fairness, not only in the gospel’s terms of labour and wages but also in terms of the rules of sports or our judicial system. However, if God were to treat us fairly, giving us what we deserve, we would be poor indeed. Mercifully, God does not treat us fairly but with superabundant generosity.

Blessing of Animals
A Service of blessing and intercession for animals takes place on Sunday 5th October at 3.30pm in St Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Middle Road, Park Gate. Tea, coffee and treats afterwards in the Paray Room. All welcome with your (well-behaved) pets! Further details from Margaret Harrington on 01329 843205.
Sacred Heart Choir CD
In July the choir recorded a CD which they have called “Prayer and Praise”. It has 15 pieces of choral music on it that they have sung during the last year and which formed the programme for their concert in France. It was mainly recorded in St John’s Cathedral, Portsmouth by kind permission of Canon David Hopgood and will be available for purchase this weekend. The aim is to raise funds for future music in the parish and to contribute towards the costs of redecorating the Sacred Heart Church. The CD is priced at a very reasonable £5.00 so why not treat yourself!

The Call
Mary received her vocation from the lips of an angel. The angel does not enter our room visibly, but the Lord has a plan for each of us, he calls each one of us by name. Our task is to learn how to listen, to perceive his call and to be courageous and faithful in following him and, when all is said and done, to be found trustworthy servants who have used well the gifts given us.
