There is a Retiring Collection this weekend for our sister diocese of Bamenda.
Confirmation
Bishop Crispian will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation for our parish on Thursday 25th June 2009. There will be an introductory meeting on Thursday 20th November 2008 at St Philip Howard Church at 7.00pm with the first Session on Saturday 22nd November at Sacred Heart Hall from 10.00am to 12.00 noon. If you wish to prepare for this Sacrament please fill in the form below and bring with you on 20th November. Candidates must be at least in their third year of secondary education (Year 9). Other young people, or not so young, who might have missed out are also invited to consider preparing for this important Sacrament.

Today we honour the saints in heaven. Nearing the end of the liturgical year when our focus shifts to the end times, this solemnity does double duty. It celebrates both those faithful disciples (saints) who enjoy their “reward…in heaven” and signals the fullness of glory that still awaits us. Their victory encourages our fidelity.

A special meeting is to be held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Stubbington for Thursday 6th November at 7.00pm. It is a very important meeting and you are asked to make a valiant attempt to attend. National Adoption Week takes place from 10th to 16th November 2008 and the Catholic Children’s Society are seeking to recruit adoptive parents throughout the Diocese for children needing permanent families. If you feel you might be interested please ring 01962 842024.
The Well
The Well is now able to take Christmas party bookings for up to 20 people on a Tuesday and Thursday lunch time and candle-lit dinners for up to 30 people on either Monday or Wednesday evenings from 24th November leading up to Christmas. Chant Workshop
Schola Gregoriana Sancti Nicolai have arranged a Chant Workshop which will take place on Saturday 15th November and runs from 10.00am to 4.30pm at Farnborough Abbey, with the support of Fr Abbott. Chant introduction and practice includes: Ordinary – Mass IV Cunctipotens Genitor Deus; Propers for feast of St Nicholas – music materials will be provided. Tea will be provided and sandwiches for lunch – at a small charge. Fees - £15.00 (including tea but excluding lunch) All are welcome, including beginners.  Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance will be open in our three churches during November to enable parishioners to enter the names of all the deceased for whom prayers are asked.
Bereavement Mass
All Souls Day will be kept on Monday 3rd November. The Bereavement Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Church. This will be the Mass for all those touched by bereavement and parishioners who have died during the past year. Refreshments will be available after this Mass. All are welcome.
Christmas Quiz
Sunday 23rd November at Our Lady of Walsingham Church 12.30pm for 1.00pm to 4.00pm – American Lunch – bring a dish. Adults £2.50 under 12s 50p. For further details please ring Rebecca on 023 9238 1802.
His Story – a musical like no other
The impact of Jesus is proclaimed by his followers and the greatest story in history reverberates on stage with a fusion of music, acting, dancing and multi-media. His Story features a cast of over 40 – new songs – new script and takes place on Sunday 16th November at Ferneham Hall at 7.00pm. Parish Bazaar
22nd November at St Jude’s School from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Raffle tickets will be available after all Masses today. Goods to sell should be left at the back of the churches from 18th October. We need craft items, jewellery, toiletries, fancy goods, bottles, groceries, toys, books, cakes, bric-a-brac etc. Please no used electrical goods or used clothes. Changes at Gosport
With effect from Wednesday 5th November and each Wednesday thereafter, Fr Peter will lead the Rosary in St Mary’s Church, High Street, Gosport at 6.30pm and this will be followed by Mass of Our Lady at 7.00pm. A basket will be placed in the lobby of the church to collect Rosary prayer intentions. Please write your intentions on the prayer cards provided. No money is to be offered with the intentions. With effect from 1st November, Confessions will be heard on Saturday in St Mary’s Church, Gosport between 10.00am and 1.00pm.
