Sacred Heart Catholic Church Stewardship – a request from the Parish Finance Committee
As part of the Stewardship Programme, some good people have already volunteered their talents and services for Parish needs, but we are asking for more particularly to assist with practical, day-to-day matters such as simple maintenance, handyman type jobs, painting and cleaning. We naturally have to employ professionals for certain jobs such as all electrical and building work, but there are many simple jobs which are appropriate to be carried out by certain parishioners. If you can spare some time, no matter how small each week, or each month and you feel that you could help – then please call the Parish Office to register your interest. Thank you in anticipation. Father Joe

Catholic Church in Fareham and Portchester Newsletter

From Father Pat

Last Tuesday I was privileged to accompany the Union of Catholic Mothers to Walsingham. It was a very early start as we left Sacred Heart Church by Coach at 4.00am! Some of us, however, were able to catch up on our sleep as it was an approximately five hour journey. Hopefully there was no snoring because if there was it was taken in good Christian spirit!

The day itself was a great spiritual experience. There were 41 Priests who attended and the main concelebrant at the Mass was Bishop Terence Brain of the Diocese of Salford. But the day itself was especially focused on the vocation of motherhood and family and asking Our Lady of Walsingham to especially intercede for all families.

The procession at the end which concluded the day was an array of banners from all the different dioceses. The address from the President of the U.C.M. was a very moving and powerful one with the emphasis on the importance of family life and Priesthood. Days like this are very important as we connect with the wider Church and our Faith is strengthened as we come together from different walks of life and different parts of the Country.
