| Should we have a Parish Social Group?
A summer garden party, a cruise around the Solent, trips to the theatre, over 60’s bungee jumping (perhaps), country walks, picnics and much more. Would you like to help form a new team of parishioners to gather ideas and organise social events for members of the parish/pastoral area and their friends and families to enjoy? You will be able to devote as little or as much time as you wish so it will not become a chore. If interested, please give your name and telephone number to the Parish Office within the next two weeks and we will be in contact.

From Father Pat
Firstly I would like to thank all the Parishioners of Fareham and Portchester for your very kind and unexpected birthday wishes last Sunday! I could not believe it when at the end of Mass, the tune of Happy Birthday rang out. It really brought home to me the kindness and appreciation that this parish shows not only to me but to many others. I will be a year in this Parish in October and it has been a truly blessed experience where I have been challenged but have learned so much. I feel that the Parish of Fareham and Portchester is an insight into what Christian witness is all about and this also has to do with the patient and encouragement that people have continued to show me especially when I continue to make mistakes!
I feel that Birthdays are a powerful insight and reminder into our uniqueness and diversity as human beings. In God’s eyes we are all loved equally because Our Loving Father has no favourites. Each of us is a marvellous work of God’s creation and I feel that a Birthday is a great way of celebrating this. The Lord has shown us this more powerfully by becoming one of us and identifying with us in our joys and sorrows. The greatest birthday in the Church that we celebrate is the God Man humbling himself to become a human person like you and me. Every person we meet each day, we should remind ourselves that they are created in the image and likeness of God. |
