Entrance Antiphons for this week

Monday - O Lord, you had just cause to judge men as you did: because we sinned against you and disobeyed your will. But now show us your greatness of heart and treat us with your unbounded kindness.

Tuesday – Bless the Lord, all you his angels, mighty in power, you obey his word and heed the sound of his voice.

Wednesday - The book of the law must be ever on your lips; reflect on it night and day. Observe and do all that it commands: then you will direct your life with understanding.

Thursday – The Lord nurtured and taught her; he guarded her as the apple of his eye. As the eagle spreads its wings to carry its young, he bore her on his shoulders. The Lord alone was her leader.

Friday - Bless the Lord, all you angels of the Lord. Sing his glory and praise for ever.

Saturday - Extraordinary Rite Mass

Catholic Church in Fareham and Portchester Newsletter

From Fr Joe

Our diocese and also our country have been blessed over the past weeks with the visit of the relics of St Therese, we now hear the news that it seems likely that our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI will be coming to Britain next year, most likely in September. These “super” events are important for the faith in these islands - and not just for Catholics. We read in the Scriptures how delighted the early churches were when St Paul visited them even when at times he had some hard things to say to them. Why is this? I think because it reminded them and us that we are part of something much bigger than our own little parish. It is an encouragement that says we are not on this journey alone. After the Lord’s Resurrection, Jesus met the disciples on the shore of the lake after they had been out fishing. When they recognised Who it was, He then fed them. After this He asked Peter if he loved Him - three times! With Peter’s response the Lord told him to strengthen the brethren. Above all else, that is the role of Peter and his successors - to strengthen, to encourage, to feed. In a different way that was what happened with the relics of St Therese.

We’ve seen a great outpouring of grace with St Therese’s visit; let it encourage us all to deepen our faith for the work the Lord has for each and every one of us.

Extraordinary Rite Mass
10.30am Mass at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday will be celebrated in the Extraordinary Rite.
