Pilgrimage to Glastonbury
We are organising a pilgrimage to Glastonbury for Saturday 24th October. The coach will leave from St Mary’s Church in Gosport at 7.00am and will have a stop at Sacred Heart, Fareham and then at Our Lady of Walsingham in Portchester for a pick up. We will arrive at the Shrine for the Mass at 10.00am. We will have a chance to learn about the unique healing ministry at the shrine. We will have the use of the parish hall for refreshments and rest. There will also be a chance to see the abbey grounds and to see the original Lady Chapel. Fr Peter Glas will lead the pilgrimage and there will be an opportunity for confession and spiritual guidance. If you are interested and wish to book a seat, please contact Rebecca on 023 9238 1802.

Extraordinary Rite Mass
Mass will be celebrated in the Extraordinary Rite this Sunday at 3.30pm in St John’s Cathedral.
Park Place Pastoral Centre
You are invited to join the Sisters for an afternoon in their pleasant hall to listen to the music of The Kaleidoscope Palm Court Trio on Sunday 18th October from 3.15 to 5.30pm approx. During the interval a traditional afternoon tea will be served at your table consisting of assorted sandwiches, scones and cakes and pastries. A few years ago, Robbie Williams had a song called Angels. And not long before that a huge sculpture was built in the North of England called “The Angel of the North”. Going into any gift shop you’re liable to find all sorts of merchandise that might be described as angel paraphernalia. Yes for the past number of years angels have featured in popular culture. I think it is safe to say though, that for the most part, they have been removed from their Christian/Judeo context and speak more of “new age”, fantasy, or just plain kitsch. Yet, angels are an important part of our Catholic faith. This past week we had two feasts just a few days apart that celebrated the holy angels, first, three archangels - Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael and on Friday we remembered our guardian angels.
There are strong scriptural references to Angels in both the old and the new testaments as well as in the teaching of the early Church Fathers. They are messengers who are sent to announce the big events like Gabriel to Our Lady. Angels are given to us to help us on our earthly journey. In our daily lives we may at times feel crushed by loneliness. There is comfort to know that each and every one of us has been given a personal protector, an angelic being to watch over us. A very holy and elderly monk once told me that he prayed to his guardian angel everyday and thanked God for sending him. He couldn’t wait till he could meet him (her?) in heaven. |

Keeping them Safe!
An evening for youth leaders, catechists and anyone working with young people to look at models of good practice for Safeguarding, takes place on Wednesday 21st October at St Francis de Sales, Warren Road, Wash Common and Thursday 22nd October at St Patrick’s Parish Hall, Porchester Road, Southampton – both sessions run from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Macmillan Coffee Morning

Hungry for One World
One World Week 18th – 25th October At The Well, Fareham – taste a different dish between 12.00 and 2.00pm from around the world. A Fair Trade table will be outside The Well every lunchtime selling Fair Trade goods. Tuesday 20th, One World Quiz in The Well doors open 7.00pm, admission by ticket priced at £5.00 including a drink and raffle ticket. Numbers limited to 40. Friday 23rd a Vigil: an ecumenical service for Hungry for One World at Sacred Heart Church. Sunday 25th October - A Creation Walk for One World Week. Meet at Titchfield Church at 1.00pm to walk to the Haven and back. Children and dogs most welcome.
The Well
The Well is now offering early morning coffee/tea between the hours of 9.30am and 11.00am at a budget price of 99p. Delicious bacon and sausage baps are also available on a snack deal. For those thinking of Christmas Party Bookings, these are now being taken. Price for any party up to 20 people on Tuesday or Thursday lunchtime is two courses £8.99 and three courses £10.99. Prayer Group
Are you drowning in problems and stress? Do you need to off-load and be supported? Come and join us. Be spirit-filled and spirit-led. Be refreshed by coming to Fr Peter Glas’ prayer group which will be meeting on Thursday 8th October at Our Lady of Walsingham Church, Portchester. Rosary begins at 7.10pm in preparation for the meeting proper at 7.30pm.
