Sacred Heart Catholic Church Annual Novena to St Joseph
The Mill Hill Missionaries annual novena to St Joseph takes place from 10th to 18th March. Mass will be celebrated in St Joseph’s Church, Cookham Road, Maidenhead at 7.30pm except Saturday at 6.30pm and Sunday at 10.45. On Friday 19th March, the Feast of St Joseph, Mass will be at 10.00am. Apostleship of the Sea

Medjugorje Pilgrimage June 2010
A ten day pilgrimage has been organised from 7th to 17th June. Father Peter Glas will be our Spiritual Director. Shared accommodation (bed, breakfast and evening meal) and coach transfers in Dubrovnik will cost 290 Euros per person. Transport to and from Gatwick and travel insurance are not included.

In an effort to keep air fares as low as possible for everyone, it has been decided once again to ask people to book and pay direct for their seats on the same British Airways flights as detailed below. Flights can be booked via the internet where cheaper fares can normally be purchased and, the earlier flights are booked, the lower the fares are likely to be.

Fr Maurice’s funeral takes place on Wednesday 10th February at 12.15pm in St Peter’s, Winchester.

Danny McMullan RIP
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Danny McMullan, who died recently. Please also pray for Sue and for all Danny’s family at this sad time.

Faith and Light
The Faith and Light service for Candlemas takes place this Sunday, 7th February at 3.00pm in St Philip Howard Church and will be celebrated by Father Pat.

Celebration of Marriage and Family Life
International Marriage Week this year is from 8th February to 14th February inclusive. A service to ‘Celebrate Marriage and Family Life’ will take place in the Sacred Heart Church at 4.30pm on Sunday 14th February 2010. During this service there will be an opportunity for you to renew your Marriage Vows. Please come along with your spouse and children. Widows, widowers and singles are also invited for we all belong to some family for which we need to thank God.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
Women’s World Day of Prayer is almost upon us again. This year in Fareham the services will be held at St Columba church in Hilson Drive on Friday 5th March 2010 at 2.00pm and 7.30pm. The Portchester service takes place at Our Lady of Walsingham Church where the Speaker will be Joy Ellis. The time will be announced shortly. This year’s service has been prepared by the women of Cameroon. The theme is “Let everything that has breath Praise God.” Refreshments will follow each service. Everyone is welcome.

Lenten Breakfasts
The first Lenten Breakfast will take place in the Sacred Heart Hall on Thursday 18th February 2010, following the 7.00am Mass. All proceeds to the Parish Lenten Appeal. Everyone most welcome.

The collection boxes for the Quiz raised a total of £129.96 for Harbour Cancer Support Centre. Thanks to Graham Goodlad for compiling the quiz.

Safeguarding Representative(s)
We are looking for volunteers in the Parish who would be willing to be a Safeguarding Representative or even form a team in this area (previously known as Child Protection Rep.) The role of Parish Safeguarding Representative is vital in order to ensure that the Parish complies with the National Policies and Procedures which have been agreed in the area of the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults. The Representative is the link between the Parish and the Diocese and is in regular contact with the Diocesan Safeguarding Co-ordinator and Administrator. The Representative is involved in the recruitment of volunteers to ministries in the Parish and has the responsibility for facilitating the CRB Disclosure Procedure at Parish level and ensuring that everybody who is required to go through the procedure does so. This role is subject to an Enhanced CRB Disclosure/ISA registration and training. Support will be provided by the Diocesan Safeguarding Team. There will be two SafeSys training sessions in the Safeguarding Office, St Edmund House, Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth on Wednesday 17th February – Session One at 10.00am and Session Two at 2.00pm. Gregorian Chant
Schola Gregoriana Sancti Nicolai (Gregorian Choir of St Nicholas) is a male-voice Gregorian Chant choir. The Schola meets regularly and welcomes new members. No previous experience of music, singing, or Latin is required. Anyone interested should contact Neville McNally, 023 9286 2384 or email.

Latin Vespers
Vespers will be sung with Gregorian Chant in St John’s Cathedral at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel this Sunday 7th February at 5.00pm. All welcome.

Cabrini Children’s Society
Next Sunday, 14th February, the annual collection takes place. The Society provides support and care for some of the most vulnerable children and young people and relies on the generosity and good will of the Catholic community to continue its work in our diocese.

Pope Benedict’s UK Visit
Pope Benedict is looking ahead with anticipation to his forthcoming visit to the UK in September. He has urged bishops to encourage the Catholics of England and Wales in their devotion and to assure them that he constantly remembers them in his prayers and holds them in his heart.
