 Celebration of Marriage and Family Life
A service to ‘Celebrate Marriage and Family Life’ will take place in the Sacred Heart Church at 4.30pm this Sunday 14th February 2010. During this service there will be an opportunity for you to renew your Marriage Vows. Please come along with your spouse and children. Widows, widowers and singles are also invited for we all belong to some family for which we need to thank God.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
Women’s World Day of Prayer is almost upon us again. This year in Fareham the services will be held at St Columba church in Hilson Drive on Friday 5th March 2010 at 2.00pm and 7.30pm.
The Portchester service takes place the same day, at Our Lady of Walsingham Church at 2.15pm where the Speaker will be Joy Ellis.
This year’s service has been prepared by the women of Cameroon. The theme is “Let everything that has breath Praise God.”
Refreshments will follow every service. All are welcome.
Park Place Stop Press
You are invited to spend a relaxing and fun afternoon at Park Place this Sunday, 14th February from 3.00pm onwards. The Park Place Radio Players will be featuring with romantic episodes from the pen of Julia Bryant. There will be music and dance and during the interval, tea and cake will be served. Tickets are £5.00 and may be bought at the door. Funds raised will be in aid of the Sisters’ projects here and in the Missions. Do come and brighten up a winter afternoon. |

Lenten Breakfasts
The first Lenten Breakfast will take place in the Sacred Heart Hall on Thursday 18th February 2010, following the 7.00am Mass. All proceeds to the Parish Lenten Appeal. Everyone most welcome.
Portchester Lent Lunches
Lent Lunches in aid of Christian Aid and CAFOD begin on Wednesday 24th February. These are held at Portchester Methodist Church beginning with a short service at 12.00 noon followed by the Lent Lunch at 12.30pm. Catholics are responsible for the service and lunch on Wednesday 10th March.
Medjugorje Pilgrimage June 2010
A ten day pilgrimage has been organised from 7th to 17th June. Father Peter Glas will be our Spiritual Director. Shared accommodation (bed, breakfast and evening meal) and coach transfers in Dubrovnik will cost 290 Euros per person. Transport to and from Gatwick and travel insurance are not included.
In an effort to keep air fares as low as possible for everyone, it has been decided once again to ask people to book and pay direct for their seats on the same British Airways flights as detailed below. Flights can be booked via the internet where cheaper fares can normally be purchased and, the earlier flights are booked, the lower the fares are likely to be.

Sixth Sunday of the Year |
 Chinese New Year
The 12.00 noon Mass at St John’s Cathedral this Sunday, 14th February, will be a celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Tiger. This will be followed by a reception in the hall. You are invited to wear something red, the Chinese symbolic, auspicious colour.
Archbishop Paul of Bamenda
Archbishop Paul died on 26th January 2010. Bishop Crispian will celebrate a Requiem Mass for him in St John’s Cathedral at 12.15pm on Saturday 27th March. Mgr Ron Hishon will be the preacher.
Marine Conservation in the UK
Is this an opportunity for recovery or an ecological impossibility? A talk by Bill Rigby to be held at St Vincent College, Mill Lane, Gosport on Monday 8th March 2010 beginning at 7.30pm. Admission is free.
