The measure of greatness is not the number of servants you have, but the number of people you serve.

There will be no First Friday Day of Prayer in April over the Easter period. We will recommence on the Friday 7th May at St Mary’s Church, Gosport. This is a day retreat to pray for the community of the Solent Pastoral Area. The theme is: Mary, Queen of Heaven. Take time out and come and reflect. We start with coffee/tea at 10.00am in the Upper Room, St Mary’s Parish Hall next to the church. The prayer starts with Rosary and Adoration 10.30am when Father Peter Glas gives the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Spiritual guidance. During Adoration there will be time for reflection, prayers to the Sacred Heart and intercessions. Holy Mass begins at 12.00 noon. We share over lunch with Bible Study from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. We will study the role of Mary as Queen of Heaven and finish with the Divine Mercy chaplet at 3.00pm. For further details, ring Rebecca on 023 9238 1802.

PARISH QUILT

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011
This runs from 8th to 22nd August and plans are well underway for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Spain for the next international gathering with Pope Benedict. Bishop Crispian has spoken of his enthusiasm about World Youth Day and how he would like as many young people as possible from the Diocese to be able to participate. There is a need to book the travel and accommodation for Spain soon as there will be a tremendous pressure on hotel space in Madrid during the celebrations. The Spanish authorities are expecting over two million people to take part! Any young people interested are asked to hand in their names to Father Joe or Father Pat as soon as possible. A positive feedback from the young people who went to the last World Youth Day was the opportunity to spend time with the priests who were part of the group. They felt able to ask for help with their faith as well as being able to celebrate the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation with them.
CONFRATERNITY OF THE ROSARY
