CATHOLIC BIBLE SCHOOL - Open Door Retreat
It is not always possible to go away to one of the beautiful retreat centres that there are up and down the country. Yet we all need to give ourselves space and time to re-think our attitude to God, to events, ourselves and others. An Open Door Retreat is one way of providing this opportunity. This Retreat begins on Friday 30th April 2010 and runs for nine sessions – a two hour session once a week meeting with others who wish to do the same. It takes place at the Catholic Bible School, Nutbourne House, Farm Lane, Nutbourne, Chichester. For more information, and to book a place, please contact Gina Poulter on 01243 371766. The cost is £50.00 or £6.00 per session.

FROM FATHER JOE
The re-decoration of Sacred Heart Church has commenced. The church will be closed for all services until re-decoration is complete. At present we seem to be speaking of about six weeks time. During this period the 9.00am Mass, normally at Sacred Heart Church, will be held at 9.30am in St Philip Howard Church. We might have to move this forward fifteen minutes if we find it is too close to the 11.00am Mass. Weekday Masses, normally held at Sacred Heart Church, have been moved to Sacred Heart Hall and seem to be going well. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has moved to Immaculate Conception Church in Stubbington, with the generosity of Father John Humphreys. Lily Peach has been co-ordinating it very well.
There will be a certain amount of upheaval during the next six weeks but hopefully at the completion, everyone will feel that it has been well worth it. |
CAFOD – GET CREATIVE
Entries are welcome until 7th June from individuals and schools and groups for CAFOD Portsmouth’s “Get Creative” competition, to produce a CD of songs and poems from people across the Diocese. WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011
This runs from 8th to 22nd August and plans are well underway for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Spain for the next international gathering with Pope Benedict. Bishop Crispian has spoken of his enthusiasm about World Youth Day and how he would like as many young people as possible from the Diocese to be able to participate. There is a need to book the travel and accommodation for Spain soon as there will be a tremendous pressure on hotel space in Madrid during the celebrations. The Spanish authorities are expecting over two million people to take part! Any young people interested are asked to hand in their names to Father Joe or Father Pat as soon as possible. A positive feedback from the young people who went to the last World Youth Day was the opportunity to spend time with the priests who were part of the group. They felt able to ask for help with their faith as well as being able to celebrate the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation with them.
