Sacred Heart Catholic ChurchSOLENT PASTORAL AREA EUCHARISTIC RETREAT
This takes place on Saturday 29th May at Immaculate Conception Church in Stubbington and is led by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Arrival is at 9.30am and the day will end at 3.45pm with Benediction. There will be a talk on the Real Presence, questions and answers, Exposition, Confessions, Mass, testimonies, Holy Hour, Divine Mercy Chaplet.

PARISH QUILT
There will be a meeting for those who would like to help with the stitching of the quilt at 7.00pm on Monday 17th May at St Jude’s School.

THANKS FROM GHANA

ROSARY RALLY
The Annual Rosary Rally organised by the Confraternity of the Rosary, takes place on Saturday 8th May 2010 at St John’s Cathedral beginning with Mass at 12.15pm. The focus will be an authorised visit of a uniquely blessed and consecrated image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, visiting Portsmouth. All are welcome. See the poster on the notice board.

FIRST FRIDAY DAY OF PRAYER
We will recommence on Friday 7th May at 10.30am at St Mary’s Church, Gosport. This is a day retreat to pray for the community of the Solent Pastoral Area. The theme is: Mary, Queen of Heaven. For further details, ring Rebecca on 023 9238 1802.

15TH FAREHAM SCOUT GROUP
“Friends and members of 15th Fareham Scout Group are invited to attend the annual AGM and Presentation evening. It will be held at St Philip Howard Church Hall on 14th May 2010. The evening will begin at 6.30pm and will include awards to our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. It would, therefore, be excellent to see as many parents and parishioners there as possible, showing support for our young people. Tea and coffee will be served. DOUAI ABBEY RESIDENTIAL RETREATS
Silent Retreat – Friday to Sunday 18th to 20th June. A chance to have time to rest, pray, meditate, enjoy the countryside, with the opportunity of participating in the monastic prayer: cost for the waged £90.00: (£30.00 deposit).
Thomas Merton Retreat
Friday to Sunday 2nd to 4th July. Reflect on Merton’s life, work and wonderful creativity in the prayerful monastic context of Douai Abbey: cost for the waged £150.00, £20.00 reduction for those sharing a room: (£30.00 deposit).

Reductions for the unwaged and those on low income. Participants are asked to arrive between 4.00pm and 5.30pm. Retreats will end after lunch.

PRAYER IN REPARATION
The Bishops of England and Wales have asked all of us to dedicate the Fridays in May as special days of prayer and reparation for the sins of the Church. We will be having this in the Solent Pastoral Area by having Adoration from 10.00am to 9.00pm at Immaculate Conception in Stubbington. At 8.00pm there will be Rosary, Night Prayer and concluding with Benediction. Please note this will be the programme for the four Fridays in May and I would encourage all our parishioners to take part, even if you can only drop in for a few minutes.

THE HOLY SPIRIT
Monday 17th May 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Our Lady of Walsingham Church – an evening of prayer on the theme of the Holy Spirit will be led by Father James Boyle, (formerly Parish Priest at Park Gate.) Everyone is welcome to use this opportunity as preparation for the Feast of Pentecost.

LIFE TO THE FULL – bringing the Bible Alive – Pastoral Area
A five session DVD for parishes, the evening will be presented in a café style with groups seated around tables. This allows the opportunity for discussion and prayerful reflection. OAKLANDS CATHOLIC SCHOOL VACANCIES

The successful candidates will require the ability to maintain a good working atmosphere and be helpful to individual students and be comfortable supervising across a full range of subjects.
