| SOLENT PASTORAL AREA EUCHARISTIC RETREAT
This takes place on Saturday 29th May at Immaculate Conception Church in Stubbington and is led by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Arrival is at 9.30am and the day will end at 3.45pm with Benediction.

PARISH QUILT
Stitching of the Quilt will commence on Monday. However, we need more of you to complete and return squares as soon as possible. Spare fabric is still at the back of the church and collection boxes will remain for a while.
PARK PLACE
Saturday 22nd May at 7.00pm – Vox Angelica will be giving a concert “Veni Sancte Spiritus” featuring the music of Hildegard of Bingen and the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins. Tickets are £10.00 each at the door and can also be booked in advance. Saturday 5th June 3.00pm to 8.00pm – there will be an open air Folk Concert featuring Charlie Heys and Jack McNeill, Chequered Flag Dancers, Feckless, Gallimauphry, Brophy,, Harmer, McGibben, Irish Set Dancers. There will be refreshments and Indian food available. If the weather is unkind a marquee will be erected. Tickets are £8.00 each or £14.00 for a family. SPECIAL CHRISTIAN AID WEEK SERVICE
This Sunday, 16th May, at 6.30pm in Fareham United Reformed Church hall there will be a relaxed style service, followed by tea and coffee. Abby, a gap-year student, will be speaking about her trip to Kenya with Christian Aid, in September 2009. Everyone is welcome.
RETIRING COLLECTION
There is a Retiring Collection this weekend for World Communications.
PRAYER IN REPARATION
The Bishops of England and Wales have asked all of us to dedicate the Fridays in May as special days of prayer and reparation for the sins of the Church. We will be having this in the Solent Pastoral Area by having Adoration from 10.00am to 9.00pm at Immaculate Conception in Stubbington. At 8.00pm there will be Rosary, Night Prayer and concluding with Benediction. Please note this will be the programme for the four Fridays in May and I would encourage all our parishioners to take part, even if you can only drop in for a few minutes.
GREGORIAN CHANT
There will be a Gregorian Chant Workshop on Saturday 12th June 2010 from 10.00am to 4.30pm in St John’s Cathedral, Portsmouth. This will be jointly led by the Abbot of Farnborough Abbey and a Director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge. Registration at 9.30am, music materials provided and tea and coffee are available. Fee £15.00.

Monday 17th May 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Our Lady of Walsingham Church – an evening of prayer on the theme of the Holy Spirit will be led by Father James Boyle, (formerly Parish Priest at Park Gate.) Everyone is welcome to use this opportunity as preparation for the Feast of Pentecost.

ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE DIOCESE
Wednesday of this week is the anniversary of the formation of our Diocese which took place on 19th May 1882.

There will be a special collection on Pentecost Sunday, 23rd May, to cover the expenses for the Papal Visit.

Although we have not made arrangements yet, we are hoping to organise a coach (coaches) for the Papal Masses while the Holy Father is in our country. More details will be forthcoming. It will be good to show our support for our “German Shepherd” at this time.
