SACRED HEART UP-DATE
We were hoping against hope to have the redecorations and restoration work completed by the Feast of the Sacred Heart. However this was not to be. We still do not have a completion date. Some of the decorative work, especially that surrounding the tabernacle, needs to get final approval from Canon Alan Griffiths. However, the work is progressing nicely and I would hope to be able to give you a more firm date on this in next week’s newsletter. Until that time, large occasions such as funerals will be held in St Philip Howard Church. I will keep you updated.

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
June is now upon us and this is the time of year when we mention the Books of Remembrance, a very sad time for many people in the Parish. Last year we received many photos of deceased family and friends, entrusted to us to be included in one of the books, people from our own Parish, who have sadly departed over the years.

This year it has been decided to start yet another book, this will be for deceased babies and children of the Parish and friends of the Parish. This we understand will be a very sensitive area for many people but we feel that anyone who has lost a baby or small child should have the opportunity to place their photo or prayer into their own Special Book.

If after you have read this, you feel you would like to send a photo etc. to be placed into one of the books, please place it in an envelope marked “Book of Remembrance” or “Children’s Book of Remembrance” together with their name etc. and also a contact number for yourself, then leave with Joan in the Parish Office.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
Wednesday 16th June – Social Group – 7.00pm St Jude’s School.

Sunday 4th July – ‘Parish Day 2010’ 12.00 noon on the school field.

There will be a varied programme with full choir, soloists and instrumentalists and refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards. Ticket prices and further information will follow shortly.

PARISH DAY
We are planning to hold an open day for the Parish on 4th July on St Philip Howard/St Jude’s Site. This will be the last occasion when we will be able to call ourselves a ‘Parish’ before the Pastoral Area becomes a single Parish in September. The day will be a wonderful opportunity for us all to gather together, rain or shine, to have fun, be entertained and celebrate what we have in the Parish of Fareham and Portchester. You will be receiving more details as the event gets closer but for now please put the date in your diary.
