CLOSE OF THE YEAR FOR PRIESTS
Pope Benedict has said that although all the good of the Year for Priests cannot be measured, people will certainly see its fruit. He said, “The Priest is formed by Christ’s charity itself, that love that moved him to give his life for his friends and also to pardon his enemies. Because of this Priests are the first builders of the civilisation of love.”
Entrance Antiphons for this week
Monday - Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord and stand in his holy place? The innocent man, the pure of heart!
Tuesday – These are the brave who resisted the king’s command, saying: in this matter it is our duty to disobey.
Wednesday - May all your works praise you, Lord and your saints bless you; they will tell of the glory of your kingdom and proclaim your power.
Thursday – From his mother’s womb, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, he will be great in the sight of the Lord and many will rejoice at his birth.
Friday - God is the strength of his people. In him, we his chosen live in safety. Save us, Lord, who share in your life and give us your blessing; be our shepherd for ever.
Saturday - Hail, holy Mother! The child to whom you gave birth is the King of heaven and earth for ever. |
PARISH DAY
We are planning to hold an open day for the Parish on 4th July on St Philip Howard/St Jude’s Site. This will be the last occasion when we will be able to call ourselves a ‘Parish’ before the Pastoral Area becomes a single Parish in September. The day will be a wonderful opportunity for us all to gather together, rain or shine, to have fun, be entertained and celebrate what we have in the Parish of Fareham and Portchester. You will be receiving more details as the event gets closer but for now please put the date in your diary.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM FATHER JOE
I am both humbled and overwhelmed by the continued generosity of everyone in this Parish of Fareham and Portchester. It makes me very proud to be your Parish Priest. Your response to the Living our Faith campaign and your regular weekly contributions, are a sure sign of the support you give to the work carried out in this Parish. Many of you increase your giving through the Gift Aid Scheme which costs you no more but the Church can claim tax back from it. For those who would like to join this scheme there will be someone from the Finance Committee outside Mass today and next week who will be happy to discuss the details with you.
It is through your giving, which in these difficult times must be for many a real sacrifice, that your love of God is truly expressed and the mission of His Church is carried forward to future generations.
In thanksgiving both for your generosity and for all the work you do in His name I shall offer a special Mass on Sunday 25th July at 11.00am in St Philip Howard Church. May God bless you.

SCOUTS – URGENT APPEAL
“To all parents and friends of 15th Fareham Scout Group. Following the recent AGM no-one came forward to fill the post of Group Chairman. We have two months – that is until the end of term – before the District steps in to consider whether the Group can continue. It is a requirement of scouting that we have a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary as well as Section Leaders. Please contact me by 2nd July if you would be prepared to put yourself forward or if you have someone you would like to nominate for this position. I look forward to someone responding to this further appeal or, quite frankly, we are in serious jeopardy!! Yours in Scouting – Andrea Barnes, GSL – tel. 01329 283620.”
