Sacred Heart Catholic Church THE ASSUMPTION OF OUR LADY
Today we celebrate the Assumption of Mary, Mother of the Lord, into heaven. This is a consoling sign of our hope. In looking to her carried up amid the rejoicing angels, human life is opened up to the perspective of eternal happiness. Our own death is not the end but rather the entrance into life that knows no end. Father Thomas Rosica, CSB

Entrance Antiphons for this week

Monday - May all your works praise you, Lord, and your saints bless you; they will tell of the glory of your kingdom and proclaim your power.

Tuesday – God our protector, keep us in mind; always give strength to your people. For if we can be with you even one day, it is better than a thousand without you.

Wednesday - God our protector, keep us in mind; always give strength to your people. For if we can be with you even one day, it is better than a thousand without you.

Thursday – The Spirit of God is upon me; he has anointed me. He sent me to bring good news to the poor and to heal the broken-hearted.

Friday - The mouth of the just man utters wisdom and his tongue speaks what is right; the law of his God is in his heart.

Saturday - The Lord chose him to be his high priest; he opened his treasures and made him rich in all goodness.

SPONSORED WALK IN AID OF WORLD YOUTH DAY AND CAFOD -SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST – STUBBINGTON AND LEE-ON-THE-SOLENT
On the 28th of August, Fr. Pat and a number of our young people from our Parish of Fareham and Portchester will be joining other young people from the Diocese of Portsmouth on this Sponsored walk in raising funds for the World Youth Day in Madrid in 2011. In the next few weeks, our young parishioners who are hoping to go to Madrid in 2011 will be looking for sponsorship so please support and encourage them if you can. The cost for each young person will be approximately £1000. No doubt, many of them have already begun saving towards this but we in the Parish would also like to assist them financially. So, the 28th of August begins a funding campaign over the next year. We are very blessed in our Parish to have such dedicated young people and by enabling then to go to Madrid, it gives them the opportunity to experience the youthfulness and culture of the universal Church. This in turn will enable them in their mission outreach to other young people. Many of us have expressed our concern regarding what’s available to young people in our Parish so this is an opportunity to support and encourage but especially pray for our young people over the next year.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes begins on Friday of this week. Please remember in your prayers all the pilgrims, especially those who are sick.
